Uses: The roots of the plant is employed as mucilaginous, stimulant, styptic and tonic. For intestinal gripe and rheumatism an aqueous extract of the fern is used. It is considered of having antibacterial action. It is prescribed for dysentery, rickets, and muscular debility. The fronds of the plant form a constituent of diuretic drinks and is given for swellings. The tender shoots is also used in balms and healing plasters.
