Uses: They are emetic and used as a substitute for Ipecacuanha (Cephaelis ipecacuanha A. Rich.). In small doses, it is expectorant and diaphoretic. Bark is astringent .Bark is given in treatment of diarrhea and dysentery.Infusion is used as an emetic. Bark is a sedative and is used to relieve pains due to bruises, and bone-ache during fever. It is also given internally and used externally as an anodyne in treatment of rheumatism.
