Uses: Rhizomes and roots constitute the drug alerian which is an antispasmodic with depressant effect on central nervous system. Rhizomes are used in hysteric, hypochondriasis, nervous unrest, and emotional states. It also act as stimulant and carminative. It is used for fevers and asthenic inflammations. Drug contains an essential oil which is used as a tonic & stimulant in medicinal preparations.
