Uses: Dried seeds and husk are used as an emollient, demulcent and laxative also used in chronic constipation, dysentery and diarrhoea, and inflammatory conditions of gastro-intestinal and genitourinary tract. Seeds are prescribed in febrile conditions and infections of kidneys, bladder, and urethra. Poultice of crushed seeds are applied to rheumatic and glandular swellings. Muscilage is present mainly in the husk.
